ITINERARY:
Day 1: USA-SPAIN
Depart from your hometown for a flight to Madrid, Spain.
Day 2: MADRID
Arrival to Madrid. Orientation tour of the city. Dinner and overnight in Madrid.
Day 3: MADRID
After breakfast join a tour of the city includes a visit to Royal Palace and Prado museum. Dinner and overnight in Madrid.
Day 4: MADRID- AVILA- SEGOVIA
After breakfast, we depart Madrid for the quiet walled town of Avila. The walls, built in the 1st century with many turrets, surrounds the Cathedral where we'll celebrate Mass, many fine houses and shops, plus the convent of St. Theresa. We will have time for meditation and prayer before departure to Segovia for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: SEGOVIA
After breakfast we'll visit the Aqueduct built in by the Romans in the first century, and the Alcazar, a beautiful and world famous fairy-tale castle. After touring "the Lady of Cathedrals" we'll celebrate Mass in the chapel. Time to wander the wonderful streets of this fascinating city before dinner and overnight.
Day 6: SEGOVIA-SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
After breakfast begin the day celebrating Mass before our long drive to Santiago de Compostela. We'll spend the day driving through some of the most beautiful parts of Galicia, seeing mountains and lakes as we go. Arrive in this 3rd most important place of pilgrimage (after Jerusalem and Rome) in time for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: SANTIAGO DE COMPESTELA
In Santiago de Compostela, we'll visit the Archbishop Palace, the Plaza del Oratorio and Raja Palace as well as celebrate Mass in St. James' Cathedral. The relics of St. James and two disciples lie in a tomb in the crypt under the altar. You'll have personal time before dinner.
Day 8: SANTIAGO DE COMPESTELA-FATIMA
After breakfast we leave Spain this morning and drive south, crossing into Portugal. Continue to Fatima, celebrating Mass when we arrive and having an orientation of the shrine for those who have not been here before. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.
Day 9: FATIMA
After breakfast we will celebrate mass at the Chapel of the Apparitions. See the Tombs of Francisco and Jacinta. We will visit Aljustrel and Valinhos (the two homes of the little shepherds are here), pray the Stations of the Cross and visit the site of the first and third visit of the "Angel of Peace," plus the site of our Lady's fourth apparition.
Dinner and overnight in Fatima.
Day 10: FATIMA-LISBON-USA
After breakfast depart for Lisbon airport for your flight to home.
